Relationology Mastermind Groups started during lockdown to help business leaders achieve goals and milestones that matter to them.
I thought that those goals would be more achievable by intentionally bringing people together – and at same time it would help build intentional relationships. And, I have to say, most people in the groups have seen fantastic successes.
As a result, the next stage will be to launch the Relationology Academy, which I will tell you about soon.
I’ve asked some of the people who took part in Mastermind Groups to tell us how being involved helped them.
First of all, I introduce S-P O’Mahony, who is the owner and CEO of Shamrock Gardens, a development of value for money houses in Transylvania, Romania.
S-P, can you tell us why you joined a Mastermind Group?
After reconnecting with Matt a few months ago, I was intrigued about how he put into practice his principles to build business relationships. I have always done this informally and instinctively, and think it’s important. But as a businessman, I am fascinated at what it looked like and how you do it practically.
I thought it was a great opportunity to learn and understand what is already important to me from someone whom I trust with 7 or 8 years of experience. It was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.
Had you heard about Relationology before?
Yes, I started following Matt and Relationology about a year ago and we got back in touch at the start of the year.
Did you understand the importance of business relationships before joining your group?
Absolutely! I think one of my strengths is that I’m a networker on many levels and like to mix people up and make unexpected connections to the benefit of those whom I connect. I do this intuitively so I was fascinated to understand the methodology behind Relationology.
How successful was your Mastermind Group?
It really was incredible!
What did you gain from it personally?
I was in a group with people from the British Isles and it took place during our lockdown in Romania and we were unable to visit the British Isles, but the group substituted for that. It was an important highlight during those dark weeks and months and helped me keep my sanity.
Also, I really dislike video conferencing and not having that personal face to face contact. Not one of our group had never met in person (and still haven’t) but I am blown away that you can build great relationships without ever meeting. It changes my world view! That was an amazing benefit.
I was sceptical at first, but seeing how it’s possible to use a method that will result in good relationships and friendships, without actually meeting those people, really surprised me.
What did you gain from it professionally?
The way the Mastermind Groups work is to have a goal that you want to achieve in the lifetime of the group, which is 3 months. My goal was a big one for me. At the time, it was a difficult situation. My business had a hectare of land; we wanted to build 28 houses; we didn’t have permits even though we’d been working on it for 18 months; we didn’t have customers; we didn’t have enough money and nothing was moving. I thought I’d throw that into the mix as my goal.
After 3 months, the whole thing has broken open. We have broken ground, we’ve got everything sorted with the builder, we’ve got new funding and we’re on the market and selling! It’s amazing. There’s a direct connection between the Mastermind Group, the process and that my business is now starting to see success!
What would you say to someone who is considering joining a Relationology Mastermind Group?
For me, assessing a return on investment is important. Whenever I look back at how I spend my time and my money, I have to consider, “What that worthwhile?” I look back at the Mastermind Group and I have to say it was a really good investment.
The return for me in every possible way was far in excess of what I needed to invest. My advice would be that a Relationology Mastermind Group will probably be a fantastic investment personally and professionally. I would encourage you to get involved as my experience proves that.
Are you looking forward to the next Relationology Academy step?
I am and I am delighted to be a part of it and intrigued by the dynamics of the new group. I’m really looking forward to it.
